Busy Weekend

I have a very busy weekend ahead of me. I have a haircut and a workout Saturday morning. Some friends will be coming over for a Poker night later that day. The next morning, I will be driving a group of my friends to a Ski Resort near Buffalo, NY.

Bayagidir kayak yapmiyordum. Iyi olacak yeniden daglara tepelere cikmak. Birlikte gittigim arkadaslarimla cok yakin degilim, biraz muhabbetlerine uzak kalabiliyorum. Kayak yaparken iyi vakit gecirmeye bakacagim daha cok. Yani aslinda dusunuyorum da, bazen insanlarla konusacak konu bulabilmeme sasiriyorum.

Well, anyways, Bonnie and I started fencing again. She was not very happy about my performance overshadowing hers. She was very bitter after I came 4th and she came 8th in a 8 person tournament, where I beat 5 people I fenced with/against. It is surprisingly a very fun sport. The thinking, the sudden movements... I have another Fencing practice scheduled today.

Tomorrow night, I will be filling in as a goalkeeper for the indoor soccer team, Bonnie and my friend Kevin are playing in. I am very nervous about that. I have not been in a soccer game for the longest time. I hope I will do okay.

Based on all of these, I will need to do some shopping, cooking, laundry folding, packing... Not enough hours in a day.

It is a woman's world

It is really the girls that choose men, as it also is in nature. So why this entire charade about girls trying to buy expensive clothes, make-up and all the other stuff they need to make them hot? Well, it is not really for us guys either. That is also for them. They are just making us believe that they buy all of that stuff to make us like them, whereas they have us buy those just so they feel good about themselves. So, it is a lie that it is a man’s world. As very successful liars, making us believe whatever we want to, so that we would do whatever they want us to, women lead the world.

When you meet a girl, the girl has already decided if you are in the range of her abilities to make you like her, and if you are good enough for her. After that, it is just a matter of actually making that happen. We think we “get” the girls, we think we “made the girl fall for us”, whereas we are falling for their schemes.

MEN EVERYWHERE, UNITE, AND WAKE UP!

R(a/u)mblings

There are times, one likes to write things down

But does not know in which direction to go

Go sideways and make it a sentence

Or down and call it a poem

http://owni.eu/2010/12/15/still-life-bent-objects/

It is easy to write a poem when you forget about the punctuations. But as for how to sate one’s mind of the writing desire, well that is another question. When the feeling comes, doesn’t matter if you are frustrated or sad, you just start writing or miss the stop. Sometimes, I don’t know what I would like to give away to the reader, maybe I am just writing for myself, and sharing them with people just to hear the gratifications. Come to think of it, that actually suits my personality pretty damn well. I am, after all, all about me.

Ahh, if only that were true, and I was as selfish as I looked. But I am not only a coward, but too concerned about others to bother anyone not close to me. That is probably why I look very selfish to people close to me, as I abuse them so.

Crusted Chicken

So, I went to a cooking class in Sur La Table, Cooking 101: Proteins. It was a really good class, which taught me, among many things, how to bread a protein, and cook it. So, I decided to give it a try:
We have the flour mixed with salt and other spices here..

Then, here you can see the egg wash, with just a tiny bit of milk
Here is the bread crumbs. I had to heavily toast 2 slices of bread, and reduce it to crumbs to get this.

And here you see the chicken , first applied flour, then the egg wash, and finally the bread crumbs. It is frying/being seared on  a hot pan with  olive oil in it. I cooked it until it became golden brown-ish. Do not mind the black looking  bread crumbs, they were already like that out of the toaster.
Yup, that is me, posing like a real chef, with my towel on my shoulder, as I have seen other chefs put their towels there.

And finally, me displaying my chicken, after cooking the chicken in the oven until it became safely above 165F inside.

Snowshoe

So, I was at Snowshoe Mountain last weekend. I met with Pamir to ski there over the weekend, but could not ski on the second day, since I pretty much used up all my lifeforce on the first day. So I wanted to save some energy for the 6 hour drive back, and decided it would be much comfortable and safer if I left early without skiing the second day.

This is as I am driving to West Virginia from Columbus, Ohio. I got a speeding ticket on the way. I was caught with 73mph on a 55mph zone.
A long and boring way, no wonder I got a ticket.
Yay! Having so much fun! Finally skiing on a real mountain!
I saw this on the hill, when we were going back to our hotel. Pamir said, there was a Dutch architect that does similar houses, maybe this could be one of his designs. It looked interesting.
This is at the Snowshoe Village center. It seemed like an okay place. Not too much fun.. Well actually, it depends on your company, and how crowded you are..
On my way back home.. I took US 50 West. What would you choose? pfft.. Lame crossroad comments  :)
That is another bridge. Bridges kinda attracted my attention as I was driving. I am not sure why.. Maybe talking to all these architects, I got a little bit interested in the subject matter.

New Year's Dissappointment

I have talked about my disappointment of not being able to go to Turkey for Christmas and New Year's holiday, having to cancel the ticket a day before the trip, while packing my bags... enough times already.
This time, I will just talk about my time with my parents, when they came to visit me a week later I cancelled my trip. I really did not want them to come.
1) I have a 1 bedroom apartment, and heving 2 guests for 2 weeks is not easy.
2) Having my father as a guest, when I have to interact with him 24/7 is not easy either.
3) I was already depressed and disappointed, having to entertain guests was not a very welcome idea.

Anyways, I took them to Chicago. We had our hard times, okay times. I am grateful they spent all that money and effort to come and see me, but honestly, at least I would have gone skiing if they had not come here. It is almost mid-February, and I have been to skiing only one day this whole winter, and that was not enough. I don't have much time left, well I mean winter is slowly going to go away, leaving its place to spring, and I do not have lots of opportunities left. I am working, so I cannot really go skiing in the weekdays. There are only so many weekends.

So, I took my parents to Chicago for 3 days, using my personal days I had for the year of 2010. It was a good time. I like Chicago, I wouldn't mind living there, unless my work place is far from my home. Let me just put a picture or two here. Let's see.. one with my parents, and one of a place called "Christian Science Reading Room". That seemed like a really good irony. I wonder what Christian Science is like.. or the faith-based science education that some Christian universities provide. What I imagine is like:

Biology lesson: "This is a cell. Look at its organs Isn't God truly grand? Look at how He created these microorganisms, and us from these small cells"
Anthropology: "Some scientists use carbon-dating to find out the age of earth. Looking at some soil samples, they say Earth is millions of years old, and that humans have been here only for a few thousand years. Even this proves that their method is wrong. Earth is about 6000 years old, and was created in 7(6) days as we all know. "
Medicine: "When a sick patient comes, before we start operating on the patient, we first pray to God for his/her health. Then using simple tools, and mostly prayer, we try to get the patient back on his/her feet again. If they enf up dying, don't feel guilt, it is God's will. They are going to a better place"..
